Concrete Dreams

Embark on a visual journey through the heart of Cumbernauld with “Concrete Dreams,” a captivating photographic narrative crafted by Chris Leslie in collaboration with the visionary artists collective, Recollective. An immersive exploration of Cumbernauld’s essence, as seen through the diverse perspectives of its inhabitants, both past and present.

As Cumbernauld stands on the cusp of transformation, poised for a bold revitalisation effort, the timing of this project couldn’t be more poignant. With plans underway for the demolition of the iconic Town Centre, “Concrete Dreams” serves as a poignant ode to the town centres rich tapestry of memories and aspirations.

This ambitious undertaking aims to capture the grand narratives that have shaped Cumbernauld’s identity – from the influx of hopeful souls migrating from Glasgow in pursuit of new beginnings, to the intricately woven fabric of daily life, where every underpass, footbridge, and architectural detail holds a cherished memory.

Through evocative imagery and poignant storytelling, “Concrete Dreams” illuminates the dual nature of Cumbernauld’s history – the epic saga of ambition and resilience, intertwined with the intimate, often overlooked nuances of everyday existence.

As a testament to this journey, a special limited edition book will be unveiled in  Autumn 2024.
