The Balkans

I spent most of my summer months in the late 1990′s in Sarajevo, Bosnia running a Photography Project for children of Sarajevo Orphanage as a volunteer.  Before Sarajevo I spent 6 months working voluntary on a social reconstruction project in the Croatian town of Pakrac.  All my time in Bosnia and Croatia was as a volunteer – I  wasn’t employed or commissioned to do any photography, so all my photography from this period was unstructured and personal.  Later in 2005 I was commissioned to visit Kosovo and document families struggling in severe poverty and post conflict stress.  The slideshow below is a collection of my photographs from across the Balkans.
