Brighten The Corner Where You Are
Recollective is a group of three artists (Alison Irvine, Chris Leslie, Mitch Miller) dedicated to telling the stories of people in relation to the places in which they live and work. We use words, photographs, illustrations, dialectograms and film.
Recollective worked with Aberlour Youthpoint in Govan and to document the work of the charity, its young people and its relationship with the African Arts Centre. They spent several months shadowing Aberlour’s youth workers and interviewing the young people about their experiences.
Their research took them to the African Arts Centre itself where they observed Amu at work with the young people creating their art and Govan High School and the Graving Docks.
The outputs of the project were a number of short stories, dialectograms and illustrations and a short multimedia film.
